The Guide
This guide describes the following three major steps in developing
culturally sensitive audiovisual cancer education materials for African
Americans:
Collect information about knowledge, attitudes, language, and practices of
the African-American community and its sub-groups, which include other
communities in the United States who share African descent.
Apply information about the African-American community to the development
of materials.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the developed materials. |
This guide provides information on various concepts related to each of the
steps described above that health care providers should be aware of
when developing audiovisual cancer education materials for African
Americans. The guide consists of two parts: part A describes how to obtain
information about African-American audiences, and part B describes how to
assemble information about African-American audiences into audiovisual
cancer education materials.
