Texas
Cancer Council Cancer Profiles for Texas and Top 10 Counties
Produced by the Texas Cancer Data Center
The Texas Cancer Council Cancer Profiles provide an
overview of cancer in Texas and in its ten most populous counties.
Sections of the profiles include Cancer Deaths, Cancer in 2002 by Type (includes incidence/expected cases and mortality), How Cancer Affects Races/Ethnic Groups, 2002 Cancer Mortality Rates by Race/Ethnicity and Cancer Type, Population at Risk, Risk and Recommendations for the American Cancer Society (ACS), Cancer Resources, and Helpful Cancer Information Sources.
Data
used in the profiles were taken from multiple Texas Cancer
Data Center Databases. More detailed information on specific
resources or demographics may be obtained by searching the
appropriate TCDC database. Resource counts are as of the date
that appears on the profile. For the most current resource
counts for any Texas county, please search our County
Cancer Profiles database.
The
profile documents are in PDF format. You will need the free
Adobe(R)
Acrobat(R) Reader to view the profiles.
*Note: The top ten counties were selected based on 2002 population estimates from the Texas State Data Center. The data have been reaggregated by race for the racial/ethnic breakdowns used to calculate mortality rates. The coding system used for the cancer deaths is the 10th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases, (ICD-10).
To view the most current mortality and population for any Texas county and updated resource counts, please search our County Cancer Profiles database.
